S.A.G.E. on MLK BVLD

New stuff from luv1, kasso, and nielah in Trenton. Produced 3/19/09, forcast rain, and it did, thankfully the wall was underneath an awning and we were able to work all day. Well, I was until 3pm, then I had to get to the school bus to pick up the kiddo. kasso was there 'till 8pm or something crazy. 12 hours that's dedication. can't believe how many people were asking "who's Afrika Bambaataa? " for those that don't know, here a synaps from wiki...

Bambaataa was a founding member of the Bronx River Projects-area street gang The Savage Seven. Due to the explosive growth of the gang, it later became known as the Black Spades, and he rose to the position of division leader. After a life-changing visit to Africa, he changed his name to Afrika Bambaataa Aasim, adopting the name of the Zulu chief Bhambatha, who led an armed rebellion against unfair economic practices in early 20th century South Africa that can be seen as a precursor to the anti-apartheid movement. Bambaataa was influenced by the courage and strategic brilliance of Shaka Zulu seen in the movie and TV series "Shaka Zulu".
Inspired by DJ Kool Herc and Kool DJ Dee, he too began hosting hip hop parties. After he returned from his life changing trip to Africa, he vowed to use hip hop to draw angry kids out of gangs and formed the Universal Zulu Nation [2]
During 1982, Afrika Bambaataa and his followers, a group of dancers, artists and DJs, went outside the United States on the first hip hop tour. Bambataa saw that the hip hop tours would be the key to help expand hip hop and his Universal Zulu Nation. In addition it will help promote the values of hip hop that he believed are based on peace, unity, love, and having fun. Bambaataa brought peace to the gangs as many artists and gang members say that "hip hop saved a lot of lives". [3] His influence inspired many overseas artists like the French rapper MC Solaar. [2] He was a popular DJ in South Bronx rap scene and became known not only as Afrika Bambaataa but also as the "Master of Records." He established two rap crews: the Jazzy 5 including MCs Master Ice, Mr. Freeze, Master Bee, Master D.E.E, and AJ Les, and the second crew referred to as Soulsonic Force including Mr. Biggs, Pow Wow and Emcee G.L.O.B.E.[4] In that same year Bambaataa and Soulsonic Force dropped the live band to go high-tech. He was provided an eerie keyboard hook by German electronic group Kraftwerk and was provided an electronic "beat-box" by producer Arthur Baker and synthesizer player John Robie. That resulted in a pop hit "Planet Rock", which went to gold status and generated an entire school of "electro-boogie" rap and dance music. Bambaataa formed his own label to release the Time Zone Compilation. He created "turntablism" as its own subgenre and the ratification of "electronica" as an industry-certified trend in the late '90s. Bambaataa established a name to be recognized not only inside the hip-hop community but outside as well.[4]

whacha know 'bout mosh pits?

the pushersman's supply route war

The drug lords and their soldiers are blamed for having killed more than 6,300 people since January 2008, including more than 1,000 in the first two months of this year alone.

That’s about 100 people every week for the last 14 months.

here's a littleknowledge about the mexican drug war going down from wikipedia---

In March 2009, President Calderón called in an additional 5000 Mexican Army troops to Ciudad Juárez. The United States Department of Homeland Security has also said that it is considering using the National Guard as a last resort to counter the threat of drug violence in Mexico from spilling over the border into the US. The governors of Arizona and Texas have asked the federal government to send additional National Guard troops to help those already there supporting local law enforcement efforts against drug trafficking...

According to former presidents Fernando Henrique Cardoso of Brazil, Ernesto Zedillo of Mexico and César Gaviria of Colombia, the United States-led drug war is pushing Latin America into a downward spiral; Mr. Cardoso said in a conference that "the available evidence indicates that the war on drugs is a failed war".[99] The panel of the Latin American Commission on Drugs and Democracy commission, headed by Cardoso, stated that the countries involved in this war should remove the "taboos" and re-examine the anti-drug programs. Latin American governments have followed the advice of the U.S. in order to combat the drug war, but the policies had little effect. The commission made some recommendations to President Barack Obama to consider new policies, such as decriminalization of cannabis and to treat drug use as a public health problem and not as a security problem

---and just a person opinion note, if they really did wipe out drug money and ops the us economy would seriously collapse, no doubt. y not legalize and get some revenue and regulation and make peoples lives safer. wait, that would make sense, compared to a zero tolerance, racially discriminatory policy that leads us to lock up more of our citizens than any other country in the world. ah, the land of the free.

A Deal With Russia?

— By Kevin Drum | Mon March 2, 2009 10:31 PM PST
Peter Baker of the New York Times reports on the latest diplomatic move from Barack Obama:

President Obama sent a secret letter to Russia’s president last month suggesting that he would back off deploying a new missile defense system in Eastern Europe if Moscow would help stop Iran from developing long-range weapons, American officials said Monday.

....The officials who described the contents of the message requested anonymity because it has not been made public. While they said it did not offer a direct quid pro quo, the letter was intended to give Moscow an incentive to join the United States in a common front against Iran.

I'm not sure what to make of this. The story shows every sign of being an official leak, something that Obama wanted to make public prior to Hillary Clinton's meeting with the Russian foreign minister later this week. But does making it public really help its chances of being accepted? Doesn't seem like it. Or perhaps the leak was designed more to put pressure on Iran than it was to put pressure on Russia?

Very odd. Consider me mystified by this.
